Mornings

Dusty,
Allergies,
Sore hips.
These mattresses are horrible.
Beep beep beep
Rolling over
Fumbling with her phone
She turns off the alarm
Door opens
Blanket dragging, I walk
The couches. Sitting
Leaning against people
Bed head, morning breath
Everyone has sleepy eyes
Smelling bacon
Coffee wakes us up, only a bit.
What truly wakes us up
And causes a flurry of movement
Is the call
“Breakfast”

The Kitchen

The November chill
Is in the air as I
Crunch down the
Gravel path towards
The courtyard

My purple and green
Rain boots slush
In the mud
That was created
By last night’s rain

Sleep deprived,
Full of caffeine
I walk past the green fence
After last night
I can handle a little cleaning
